CUET Exam 2025 Revised

The CUET UG Exam pattern 2025 has undergone several revisions to enhance its assessment process. The updated exam pattern ensures a fair evaluation of candidates’ skills and knowledge, aligning with the latest educational standards. CUET Exam Pattern for UG is broken into three sections: Language Paper, Domain Paper & General test. The National Testing Agency has introduced a number of changes in the CUET UG Exam Pattern 2025. The changes that have been introduced in the exam pattern of the CUET UG exam include changes in exam timings and subject options available for students.

CUET Exam 2025 Revised

The NTA has revised the exam format for CUET UG 2025. These new revisions will be mentioned in the official brochure of the CUET 2025. UGC Chairperson Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar indicated that changes will be made to the exam duration, examination mode, and the number of subjects involved. The exam will return to a Computer Based Test (CBT) format for all the subjects. CUET UG will consist of three sections. Section 1 will feature 13 languages, Section 2 will cover 23 domain subjects, and Section 3 will include a General Test.

The CUET subjects will have a uniform duration of 60 minutes for all exam papers. Candidates are allowed to select up to five subjects, a reduction from the previous limit of six. Students can choose any CUET subject regardless of their Class 12 curriculum. Candidates can begin their preparations for CUET UG while also studying for the board exams. This is for the 2nd consecutive year that the NTA has made changes to the CUET exam pattern. The new pattern has been suggested after analyzing the past three years’ CUET papers.

Exam Overview

The CUET UG Exam 2025 is designed to test a candidate’s proficiency in various subjects, ensuring their readiness for higher education. The exam consists of multiple sections, each focusing on a different subject area.

Total Marks

The exam carries a total of 800 marks, distributed across different sections. Each section contributes to the final score, allowing candidates to showcase their strengths in multiple domains.

Exam Duration

The total duration of the exam is 3 hours (180 minutes). Candidates must manage their time efficiently across various sections to maximize their performance.

Exam Sections and Distribution of Marks

The exam is divided into four major sections:

1. Language Test (200 marks) – This section assesses proficiency in English and other languages, testing grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary.
2. Domain-Specific Subjects (300 marks) – Candidates will be tested on their chosen field of study, covering core concepts and advanced topics.
3. General Test (200 marks) – Includes logical reasoning, numerical ability, and general awareness.
4. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills (100 marks) – Evaluates the candidate’s ability to analyze data, solve problems, and think critically.

Marking Scheme : Each correct answer awards 5 marks.

Negative marking: 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.

Unattempted questions do not attract any penalty.

Some sections may include subjective-type questions, evaluated based on accuracy, coherence, and depth of response.

CUET Exam Marking Scheme

Increased Total Marks: The maximum score has been revised from 600 to 800.

Balanced Sectional Weightage: More emphasis on domain-specific knowledge and problem-solving skills.

Revised Negative Marking Policy: A uniform 1-mark deduction for incorrect answers.

Introduction of Subjective Questions: Some sections now include short-answer or essay-type questions to evaluate conceptual clarity.

Details That You Must Know About CUET Exam Pattern 2025

CUET 2025 will be conducted in 3-4 slots per day. NTA will disclose details related to the slots later. 

The test will be pen & paper and computer-based based on the number of applications received. However, as per the CUET 2025 exam pattern, the tweak is that you don’t have to appear for all languages or all domain tests to qualify for admission to your desired college.

• You can take a maximum of 5 subjects/ exams. 
• What combinations can you create to finalise your 5 exams? You can probably write 1-2 language paper, 2 domain papers and 1 general aptitude test, OR  1 language test, 3 domain tests and 1 general test.
• Considering students’ diversity (in streams and boards), NTA has decided to provide flexibility in choosing any subject, irrespective of class 12^th subjects. 
• However, the total number of questions to be attempted by any candidate remains the same.
• The CUET exam will happen for 37 subjects.

CUET Exam Pattern 2025: Mode of Examination

The CUET UG 2025 exam will be held in CBT mode. The official website also describes the CUET UG exam pattern & syllabus in Hindi. 

• This exam will be conducted on multiple days depending on the date allocated to you in your CUET Admit Card. 
• The exam will be online (Computer-based) for all the subjects. 
• All the subjects will have a single shift, and the normalization process will not be applied.
