👉  Kavach 4.0 is the latest version of India’s indigenously developed by Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) in collaboration with Medha Servo Drives, Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, designed to enhance railway safety by preventing accidents and ensuring smooth train operations through automated braking and real-time monitoring. It has been successfully commissioned on the 324-kilometer Mathura-Kota section of the Delhi-Mumbai corridor, marking the first section cleared by the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA).

👉The best tableau at the 76th Republic Day Parade 2025 was awarded to Uttar Pradesh for its depiction of the Mahakumbh 2025 festival, themed “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas”.

👉The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Union Ministry of Rural Development, will launch the second batch of Phase 2 of the National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) Capacity Building Programme on Monday. The week-long training will be held across four National Centres of Excellence to enhance the skills of Urban Local Body (ULB) and district-level officers in modern land survey techniques.

👉Coral cover in the Lakshadweep archipelago has declined by approximately 50% over a 24-year period, decreasing from 37.24% in 1998 to 19.6% in 2022. This significant reduction is primarily attributed to repeated marine heatwaves, exacerbated by climate change, which have led to mass coral bleaching events in 1998, 2010, and 2016. The study, which monitored three major atolls—Agatti, Kadmat, and Kavaratti—concludes that the long-term survival of these reefs depends on the return time between bleaching events and underscores the urgent need for global climate action to ensure their ecological integrity

👉Sayoni Das, a 26-year-old swimmer from Kalna, West Bengal, successfully crossed the Strait of Gibraltar on April 19, 2025, reportedly becoming the first Asian woman to achieve this feat. The 14.2 km swim, which connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea.She is now aiming to conquer the Sugaru Channel (Connecting Sea of Japan & Pacific Ocean) in Japan before 2027 as part of her mission to swim the seven seas.

👉Indian spacetech firm Dhruva Space is set to launch its first commercial satellite mission, LEAP-1, aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket in the third quarter of 2025. This mission marks a significant transition from technology demonstration to commercial operations, carrying payloads from Australian firms Akula Tech and Esper Satellites on Dhruva’s indigenously developed P-30 satellite platform.

👉Indian women’s rights activist Varsha Deshpande awarded UN Population Award for gender equality and reproductive rights advocacy.

👉Dangeti Jahnavi, an Andhra woman, became the first Indian to complete NASA’s prestigious International Air and Space Program. She is set to travel to space in 2029. She is known for active engagement in space outreach and has contributed to the discovery of an asteroid based on the data of the Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System. Jahnavi has received several accolades from NASA, ISRO and Space Iceland. . Jahnavi is set to go into space in 2029 for a US-based project. She will travel to Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station for the project.

👉The theme of the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog was ‘Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047‘. This theme focused on states as the building blocks for transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasized that the vision of a developed India is the aspiration of all 140 crore citizens and requires collective effort from all states and union territories

👉India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy in 2025, overtaking Japan, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) data. This milestone is based on India’s nominal GDP reaching $4.19 trillion  , with some sources citing a figure of $4.187 trillion. The country is projected to remain the world’s fastest-growing major economy, with a growth rate of 6.2% for 2025  , and is expected to overtake Germany to become the third-largest economy by 2028.

👉Gingee Fort in Tamil Nadu has been officially inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, becoming the 44th such site in India. The designation was announced on July 11, 2025, during the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris, recognizing the fort as part of the “Maratha Military Landscapes of India” serial nomination.

👉The first geothermal production well in Northeast India has been drilled in Dirang, West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, marking a significant milestone for renewable energy in the Himalayan region. This project, led by the Centre for Earth Sciences and Himalayan Studies (CESHS), is the first of its kind in the Northeast and aims to make Dirang India’s first geothermal-powered town. The site, located near a major fault zone, has a reservoir temperature of approximately 115°C, making it suitable for direct-use geothermal technologies.

👉The Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) marked a historic milestone for India, as Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station (ISS) and the second Indian overall to reach space, following Rakesh Sharma’s 1984 mission on a Soviet Salyut 7 station. Shukla served as the pilot for the mission, representing ISRO and fulfilling a joint commitment between the US and India to send an Indian astronaut to the ISS. The mission launched successfully on June 25, 2025, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying a new Crew Dragon spacecraft named “Grace”.

👉Squadron Leader Manisha Padhi has been appointed as the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, making history as India’s first woman officer from the armed forces to hold this position.

👉As of 2021, Kerala has the highest proportion of elderly population in India, with 16.5% of its population aged 60 years and above. This is followed by Tamil Nadu at 13.6%  , Himachal Pradesh at 13.1%  , and Punjab at 12.6%. According to projections, Kerala is expected to maintain its lead, with its elderly population share forecasted to reach 20.9% by 2031. While Uttar Pradesh has the highest absolute number of elderly people, it has a lower proportion compared to the southern states. Bihar has the lowest proportion of elderly population, at 7.7%.

👉The Cholanaikkans are an indigenous ethnic group of India, primarily inhabiting the southern Kerala State, especially the Nilambur Valley within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and Silent Valley National Park. They are considered one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes in South India and are the only known tribal community in Asia that lives in rock-cave shelters. The Cholanaikkans are classified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) by the Government of India. Their population has significantly declined, from 360 individuals recorded in the 1991 census to 191 members as of the most recent data. 

👉The 13th edition of the India-Maldives joint military exercise ‘Ekuverin‘ was held from February 2 to 15, 2025, hosted by the Maldives.

👉The third edition of the India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise Cyclone, known as Cyclone 2025, commenced on February 10, 2025, at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan and concluded on February 23, 2025. This annual exercise, held alternately in India and Egypt, aimed to enhance military cooperation, interoperability, and the exchange of special operations tactics between the two nations’ special forces. 

👉The 6th edition of the India-Japan joint military exercise, Dharma Guardian, successfully concluded on March 9, 2025, at the East Fuji Training Area in Japan. The exercise, which ran from February 24 to March 9, 2025, marked a significant milestone as it was conducted at an enhanced scale with troops participating at a company-strength level for the first time since the exercise’s inception.

👉The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is an intergovernmental organization established in 1960 to promote free trade and economic integration among its member states, which are not part of the European Union (EU). The four current member countries are Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. These nations have developed one of the world’s largest networks of free trade agreements, covering more than 60 countries and territories, including the EU. India signed a landmark Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) with EFTA on March 10, 2024, after over 15 years of negotiations. This agreement is significant as it marks India’s first comprehensive trade deal with a European bloc and includes provisions on trade and sustainable development, as well as specific investment and job creation targets.

👉The Theatre Level Operational Exercise (TROPEX-25), the Indian Navy’s capstone biennial exercise, was conducted from January to March 2025 in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). A key feature of TROPEX-25 was the significant integration of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), and Indian Coast Guard (ICG), demonstrating enhanced jointness and synergy among the services.
